Title: 'Story telling and Narrative through Typography'

Abstract: This workshop aims to provide a platform to conduct experiments with typography in storytelling. Letterforms, sentences, lines of text and paragraphs can be creatively used in the context of storytelling and narrative as an alternative approach to image and icon based story telling. One story will be given and all participants will be encouraged to shift from pictorial narration to typography based narration.

Materials/ tools to be brought by student participants:
One Black Sketch pen each
One pencil each
One eraser each

Materials provided by Typoday:
A4 size sheets: 25 sheets per participant

Prof. G. V. Sreekumar is a well-known Typographer and a senior faculty member at IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, Mumbai, India. He has an M.Des (Visual Communication) Industrial Design Centre (IDC), IIT, Bombay, and BFA (Applied Arts), Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University, Vadodara.

His fields of expertise are Visual Design, Typography, Publication Design, Magazine Design and Information Graphics. The Subjects taught by him are Typography, Information Graphics, Calligraphy, Representational Techniques, Visual Design, Media Technology, Anatomy and Life Drawing, Publication Design and Computer Aided Design.

Before IDC, he was with various publishing houses, including Times and Jasubhai Media, Outlook, and Indian Express.
